One Lord Jesus Christ

Billions have spoken His name. Historians acknowledge His impact. TIME Magazine calls Him the most persistent symbol of purity and love in human history. But the Creed presses a far deeper question: Who is Jesus, really? And why does it matter for us today? The sermon begins by unpacking the three titles the Creed uses:

  • Lord—the divine name used for YHWH in the Old Testament and the title claimed by Caesar.

  • Jesus—“The Lord saves.”

  • Christ—the Anointed One, God’s promised Messiah.

Taken together, the Creed asserts that Jesus is not merely a teacher or spiritual figure but the rightful King of the world.
